About Me

Having studied Jewellery and Metal Design for three years at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee I completed a BDES Honours. I am continuing to develop my skills and my passions and interests in jewellery making. I live in a small historical town in Highland Perthshire, surrounded by striking views and a stimulating environment. My local environment is the inspiration for my pieces and has become central to my work through the use of local materials. It is my intention to feature a delicate quality in my work, emphasising that fragility is precious, as is nature.

Lyndsey Douglas

Òrnaich: Is a Scottish Gaelic word meaning ornament/ adornment.

Inspiration

The landscape of Highland Perthshire is a haven for developing stronger connections with nature. The scenery, sounds and smells invoke a calming feeling which lead you to pause and absorb your surroundings.  These are moments of discovery: a time to find hidden beauty in nature's patterns, moods and textures. The structures and delicate forms of the mushroom world are the principle source of inspiration.

It is Lyndsey's intention to feature a delicate quality in her work, emphasising that fragility is precious, as is nature. She hopes that the wearer will perceive this and feel that they are in possession of something special. It is about sharing her own personal connections with nature and these ‘precious moments' with others.

"My jewellery is to be worn by any who have a love of nature and an interest in unique designs inspired by the Third Natural Kingdom".
